Nitro RC

Since the last update I did get the Lightning. It is actually a STR, not VX, so it is the newer version. I don't know what is actually different.
Right now, both the truck and the car are taken apart in my basement. Trying to get things figured out. It is amazing how much you can learn while tooling around on them. I think I am getting a better understanding on them, so hopefully I won't have as many problems in the future. Most of my problems so far have been from hitting things and because of misalignment of the engine. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get at least one of them out. I still have to finish break in process for the Lightning, so I haven't even seen it at full power yet.

New hobby

So, if you know me well enough to know that I have a blog, you know that I tend to obsess about some things. Razors are a good example. Anyway, I have a new obsession. Nitro RC. I have wanted a nitro RC vehicle since I was in high school, and finally decided to make it happen. I sold a razor to buy a Redcat Volcano SV. A monster truck. Fairly cheap, but a good way to get started from what I read. I have been breaking something almost every time I take it out, but I have been enjoying working on it, and Redcat has their parts priced pretty cheap. With some of the crashes, and the speed of the thing, I can't complain about broken parts.
I recently found another car, same brand, through a guy who bought it and never ended up doing anything with it. Another razor down, and another vehicle on it's way to me. It is a Redcat Lightning VX. This one is an on road car, supposed to be very fast. Anyway, I will probably have some updates about these, be forewarned. :)

Asus Eee PC 1000 HE vs 1000 HEB

In researching netbooks recently I saw a review where someone said that they bought the 1000HE from Best Buy, and when they got it home they started noticing things weren't available that they were expecting and eventually found that Best Buy actually sells the 1000 HEB not the 1000 HE. Turns out that the competitively priced computer at Best Buy is a heavily watered down version. Note that the HE-B is the black HE, the HEB is Best Buy's cheapo version.

I did a little searching and here is a list of things I found to be different between the two:

-No Bluetooth on the HEB.

-7 hour battery on HEB as compared to 9.5 on HE.

-HEB has Atom N270 rather than N280 processor. Minimal horsepower difference, 1.6 compared to 1.66 GHz, but it also has higher power consumption and is paired with a slower FSB.

-The HE reportedly has a sound card upgrade, although I could not find the model of either.

-Both have 802.11 b/g/n, but the n is limited to 2.4 mhz on the HEB, compared to 5 on HE.

-HE comes with a laptop protective carrying sleeve

-I could not find any information about eee drive for the HEB, but the HE comes with 10 GB of online storage.

I just found this interesting, and I put the list together from several different sources, so thought it would be worth putting it all together.

Washer/dryer update

Well, I guess I should update on the washer/dryer post, they arrived on the 8th, and have been in use since the 9th. Absolutely worth it, they are great, it still seems crazy to me though.
I want to go fishing so bad right now. Must catch fish.

Sears Black Friday Sales

OK, yeah, sorry, I haven't updated in forever. I am a horrible blogger.

Black Friday 2008, I get up early and head to Sears to get in on a great deal on a washer and dryer combo. We hadn't really been looking, but our washer/dryer has always sucked, and it was dieing fast. I buy the 29th set. Really? They sold 28 sets before I got there at 6:15? Unfortunately I was out of town visiting family, and they inform me that they can't just have it shipped to our local Sears. Oh well, good price and all...

Fast forward a couple months, still waiting on our appliances. A bearing is going out in the washer. With each use it is getting louder and louder. We can no longer wash laundry while the baby is sleeping. I call and they tell me that the scheduled arrival date is Feb 27. Really? 4 months? Oh well, good price and all...

Feb 26, one day until anticipated arrival date. Our washer is now making a horrible squeaking sound and smelling like oil, in addition to the grinding sound of the bearing being out. I call Sears, just want to check in and make sure I can pick up the washer and dryer on the 27'th as planned. Get transferred 3 times, finally talk to the manager who tells me that it is still showing the 27th, and they are currently unloading a truck that may contain it. Woo Hoo!

One hour later - I get an automated call from Sears. Woo hoo, it must be there! Nope, the ship date has been updated, now projected for March 9.

I am really hoping not to have to go to a laundromat before these arrive. I really hope Sears does not close this store before I get the washer and dryer I paid for in November. Oh well, good price and all...
